Giving up big plays.
Missed opportunities.
Burning Hansen's redshirt.
Questionable playcalling.
Waaaay too many penalties.
Big loss.
I think Murphy's Law should be renamed "Hawkins' Law" - Anything that can be fucked up will be fucked up. If you made a mental list before the game tonight of things that could have happened in a "worst case scenario", is there anything that didn't get checked? You probably had to add things to the list as the game went along.
Did anyone feel even remotely confident when the Buffs were up 7-3? 14-3? 14-10 at halftime? I called my friend at halftime and told him I was waiting for Texas to score 4 unanswered touchdowns in the 3rd. Thats the kind of confidence I have with Hawkins at the helm. And he didn't disappoint tonight.
I almost feel bad having this website. Hawkins has delivered such a terrible performance through 5 games that its embarrassing that its necessary to tell people this guy has to go. It's even more embarrassing that Mike Bohn and the Athletic Department can't take a clue. During the 4th quarter, I got the feeling that Hawkins was just taunting the fans. Look guys, I can blow an 11 point lead, lose by 24, blow Hansen's redshirt, and I'm still going to be the coach.
If you still had any faith in Hawkins, it's time to reconsider. Check out the petition on the right.

Bobby Bowden, Mark Richt, and other coaches are under the gun and we put up with THIS?
ReplyDeleteIt isn't just time to Can Dan, it's time to dump the AD for inaction, or giving Hawkins an extension - any number of incompetent moves.
Come ON!
Bob Davie was fired after a 5-6 season at Notre Dame. He went 7-6, 9-3 (was 9-1 until #1 QB Jarious Jackson got hurt), 5-7, 9-3, then the 5-6 season on 2001. AD Kevin White almost sacked him after an 0-3 start that year. He was 35-25 during his time. Bob Davie was sacked for 35-25. Hawkins is 14-28.
ReplyDeleteI guess it all depends on your standards and what's acceptable.
Gary Barnett got fired for losing three games to against Nebraska, Texas, and Clemson (all good teams). Gary Barnett went to the Big 12 Championship his last two seasons (including the year he was fired). Then Hawkins comes in and it's a shock when he doesn't drop three games in a row. And somehow this is acceptable? This was the make or break season for Hawkins and it's obvious he's not gonna make it.
ReplyDeleteFor starters I want him gone as well,
ReplyDeleteyet when are people gonna realize we can't get ride of him. There is no money to buy him out, PERIOD!! Deal with it. Hopfully we can see what Hawk can do with a real D1 QB
Having him stay any longer is going to damage this program more and more, as more guys leave and transfers amd more kids decide CU cannot compete he will not be able to recruit anything above a 2 star recruit that will be deciding between CU and Western New Mexico. No bowls and no way CU will be able to generate any money other than signing up to go play at other schools as their homecoming patsies. I understand teh contract issues, but keeping him on will cost the University far more in revenues tham biting the bullet and eating the initial costs.
ReplyDelete"Hopfully we can see what Hawk can do with a real D1 QB"
ReplyDeleteAnd you believe that's Hansen? A player that hasn't taken a snap with the first team in practice in a month? A passing game is all about timing and there's no timing in place between McKnight, Simas and who ever else is catching the ball at WR.
CU doesn't have the money to buy Hawkins out. Administratively they don't have the backbone to make a clean sweep in the department from the top down. CU fans are going to have to watch the continued slide and erosion of a once great program into the abyss on college football ... maybe if CU had played with the first half passion they showed against Texas in the games with CSU and Toledo, perhaps they would be 3-2 at this point instead of 1-4. Kansas? Loss ... at KSU? Loss ... Missouri? Loss ... 1-11 is not out of the question for these guys ... at best 3-9. Welcome the the cellar boys, even Duke won a big conference game this weekend.
If we didnt have cody, we wouldve been in a bowl game last year and 4-1/3-2 this year and on our way. Cody limits the team and coaches. We will beat Kansas this week.
ReplyDeleteThe problem doesn't lie with Hawkins... at least not entirely. It lies with the CU Administration which have no backbone, no guts and have been neutered by the media. This didn't start with Hawk, it started with Hnida and the dumbshits who thought they could 'get away with raping and disparaging a fellow human being'. Nothing but stupid, wannabe 'gangstas' and the Administration will keep CU down until they call it what it is. Hawkin's is still having to deal with this denial and sweeping it under the rug. This doesn't breed toughness in coaches or his players.
ReplyDeleteContrary to popular myth, Barnett wasn't a good coach, on or off the field. The Big 12 North championships cited with reverence were backed into in more cases than not and required someone else to lose. That's not a ringing endorsement of a coach. We haven't had a good coach since Mac.
The Administration is still with their tail between their legs and until they can make the decision that CU will be a D1 football program, expect to lose to Montana St, Toledo and the other planned patsies that raised their gameplan.
